Sometimes a perfectly good good system tool goes overlooked until a particular need arises, as in the case of GkrellM. GKrellM is a GTK program to display a single process stack of system monitors. Usually I have it running on a second monitor to keep tabs on temperatures, fan speeds and various other parameters. Recently, when running with a single monitor and with programs fullscreen, I was missing being able to glance at this tool. Gkrellm can be set to always "on top" but that is not suitable in most cases. Then I discovered gkrellmd: The GNU Krell Monitors Server!
